Dua For the Forgiveness of Parents
One of the most important duas in Islam is the dua for parents. Here is the dua:
رَبَّنَا اغْفِرْ لِي وَلِوَالِدَيَّ وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ يَوْمَ يَقُومُ الْحِسَابُ
“Rabbighfirli waliwalidayya warhamhuma kama rabbayani sagheera”
“O my Lord! Forgive me and my parents, and bestow Your Mercy upon them both, as they brought me up when I was young.”
To perform this dua, simply recite the above verse with sincerity and conviction. It is recommended to perform this dua after every prayer, as well as at other times throughout the day.
Dua for Allah’s Mercy on Parents
رَّبِّ ارْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَانِي صَغِيرًا
Rabbir hamhuma kama rabbayanee sagheera
“My Lord, have mercy on them as they raised me when I was small.”
(Quran, Surah Al-Isra 17:24)
Dua for Parents Long Life and Blessings
اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ فِي أَعْمَارِ وَالِدَيَّ وَارْزُقْهُمُ الصِّحَّةَ وَالْعَافِيَةَ
Allahumma barik fi a’mari walidayya warzuqhumus-sihhata wal-afiyah.
“O Allah, bless the lives of my parents and grant them good health and well-being.”
Dua for Deceased Parents
اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لَهُمَا وَارْحَمْهُمَا وَعَافِهِمَا وَاعْفُ عَنْهُمَا وَأَكْرِمْ نُزُلَهُمَا وَوَسِّعْ مَدْخَلَهُمَا وَاغْسِلْهُمَا بِالْمَاءِ وَالثَّلْجِ وَالْبَرَدِ
“O Allah, forgive them and have mercy on them. Grant them well-being and pardon them. Honor their abode, expand their entry, and cleanse them with water, snow, and ice.”
(Muslim, 963)
Dua for the Health of Parents
رَبِّ أَوْزِعْنِي أَنْ أَشْكُرَ نِعْمَتَكَ الَّتِي أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيَّ وَعَلَىٰ وَالِدَيَّ وَأَنْ أَعْمَلَ صَالِحًا تَرْضَاهُ وَأَدْخِلْنِي بِرَحْمَتِكَ فِي عِبَادِكَ الصَّالِحِينَ
Rabbi awzi’nī an asykura ni’matikal-latī an’amta ‘alayya wa ‘ala wālidayya wa an a’mala salihan tardhāhu wa adkhilnī birahmatika fī ‘ibādikas-soliheen
“My Lord, inspire me to (always) be thankful for the blessings You have granted me and my parents, and to do good deeds that please You; admit me by Your grace into the ranks of Your righteous servants.”
