Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW)

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is regarded as the last and final prophet in the Islamic faith. He was born in Mecca in 570 CE and started receiving revelations from Allah (God) at the age of 40. These revelations were recorded in the holy book of Islam, the Quran. Prophet Muhammad’s teachings and actions laid the foundation for the Islamic faith and inspired millions of people throughout history.

Early Life

Prophet Muhammad was born into the Banu Hashim clan of the Quraysh tribe in Mecca. His father, Abdullah, died before his birth, and his mother, Amina, died when he was six years old. He was then raised by his grandfather, Abdul Muttalib, until he passed away two years later. After the death of his grandfather, Prophet Muhammad was placed under the care of his uncle, Abu Talib, who took him on as his own son.

Prophet Muhammad worked as a shepherd in his early years, and at the age of 25, he married Khadijah, a wealthy and respected businesswoman. The couple had six children, but only one survived to adulthood, their daughter Fatimah.

Revelation and Prophethood

At the age of 40, while Prophet Muhammad was meditating in a cave on Mount Hira, he received his first revelation from Allah through the angel Gabriel. The revelation consisted of the first verses of Surah Al-Alaq, which command the Prophet to “Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists)” (Quran 96:1-2).

Prophet Muhammad was initially frightened and confused by the experience but soon came to understand that he was being called to be a messenger of Allah to the people of Mecca and beyond. He spent the rest of his life spreading the message of Islam and calling people to the worship of Allah and the practice of good deeds.

The Quran and Hadith

Prophet Muhammad’s teachings and revelations were recorded in the Quran, which is considered the holy book of Islam. The Quran contains 114 chapters, or surahs, which are divided into verses, or ayahs. It is the primary source of guidance and inspiration for Muslims all over the world.

In addition to the Quran, Prophet Muhammad’s teachings and actions were recorded in the Hadith, a collection of sayings and actions attributed to him. The Hadith is considered the second most important source of guidance in Islam and provides insight into the Prophet’s life and teachings.

Teachings and Message

Prophet Muhammad’s message was simple and straightforward: there is only one God, and all people are equal in the eyes of Allah. He taught that people should worship Allah alone, without associating any partners with Him. He also emphasized the importance of good deeds and the importance of treating others with kindness and compassion.

One of the central teachings of Prophet Muhammad was the concept of Tawheed, or the oneness of God. He taught that Allah is the only God and that everything in existence is subservient to Him. This concept is embodied in the declaration of faith, or Shahada, which is recited by Muslims around the world: “There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is His messenger.”

Prophet Muhammad also emphasized the importance of justice and fairness in all aspects of life. He taught that all people, regardless of their social status, race, or ethnicity, should be treated with respect and dignity. He established a just and fair society in Medina, where people of different backgrounds lived together in harmony and mutual respect.
