Iman-e-Mujammal (ایمان مجمل)
Arabic Text:
آمَنْتُ بِاللّٰهِ كَمَا هُوَ بِأَسْمَائِهِ وَصِفَاتِهِ وَقَبِلْتُ جَمِيعَ أَحْكَامِهِ اِقْرَارًا بِاللِّسَانِ وَتَصْدِيقًا بِالْقَلْبِ
Transliteration:
Aamantu Billaahi kamaa huwa bi Asmaaihi wa Sifatihi wa Qabiltu Jamee’a Ahkaamihi Iqraaran bil-Lisaani wa Tasdeeqan bil-Qalbi.
English Translation:
“I believe in Allah as He is, with all His Names and Attributes, and I accept all His Commands with verbal acknowledgment and heartful conviction.”
Urdu Translation:
“میں ایمان لایا **اللہ پر جیسا کہ وہ ہے، اس کے تمام ناموں اور صفات کے ساتھ، اور میں اس کے تمام احکام کو قبول کرتا ہوں، زبان سے اقرار اور دل سے تصدیق کرتے ہوئے۔”
Hadith Reference:
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
“Faith is to believe in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, the Last Day, and to believe in destiny, both its good and bad.“
(Sahih Muslim, Hadith No. 8)
Essential Beliefs in Islam (Iman-e-Mujammal):
- Belief in Allah as He is, with all His Names and Attributes.
- Acceptance of all divine commands as revealed by Allah.
- Faith must be professed by the tongue (verbal acknowledgment) and confirmed in the heart (sincere belief).
- Submission to Allah’s will, following His guidance in all aspects of life.
Difference between Iman e Mufassal and Iman e Mujammal
Iman-e-Mufassal and Iman-e-Mujmal are two declarations of faith in Islam. The key difference lies in their level of detail:
- Iman-e-Mujmal is a concise declaration, summarizing the core beliefs in a brief statement. It translates to: “I believe in Allah, as He is, with His names and attributes, and accept all His judgments.”
- Iman-e-Mufassal is a more detailed declaration, elaborating on the six pillars of faith: belief in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, the Day of Judgment, and divine decree.
Essentially, Iman-e-Mujmal is a summarized version of Iman-e-Mufassal, which provides a more comprehensive understanding of the Islamic faith.
